Our AI builds a reading profile from your answers and matches it against a vast library of titles, considering themes, writing style, and story structure. Books you've already saved are automatically excluded, so every search surfaces something new.
What do you ask me about?
We ask about preferred genres, genres to avoid, your current reading mood, narrative styles you enjoy, themes that interest you, books you've loved, and books you didn't connect with. You can also share context like reading for a commute, book club, or stressful time; the more detail, the better the match.
What genres and types of books do you cover?
Everything: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, graphic novels, and niche subgenres. Fantasy, sci-fi, literary fiction, biography, philosophy, true crime, self-help, and more. You're not limited to our suggestions; type in any genre or combination and we'll work with it.
How accurate are the recommendations?
Most readers find that 4 out of 5 recommendations match their taste well. The more specific you are about what you love and what you avoid, the more precise the results. Even small details, like preferring short chapters or first-person narration, make a difference. For the best accuracy, try High Quality mode.
How many recommendations do I get per search?
Each search returns 5 personalized recommendations. Every pick includes the title, author, a summary, and a clear explanation of why it matches your taste, plus a link to buy it. Books you've already saved are excluded, so you'll always get fresh picks. You can also choose between Fast and High Quality modes for each search.
Can I get recommendations for specific situations?
Absolutely. Mention your context in the form: beach vacation, daily commute, recovering from a reading slump, book club pick, or winding down before bed. The more specific you are about when and where you'll be reading, the better we can match.
Is Bookmancer suitable for all reading levels?
Yes. Whether you're just getting into reading, returning after a long break, or looking for your next literary challenge, Bookmancer adapts. Just mention your preference for language complexity, pacing, and book length, and we'll match you with reads that fit your comfort zone and gently stretch it when you're ready.
Can I save books and organize my reading list?
Yes. You can save any recommended book and organize it into lists: Want to Read, Currently Reading, Read, or Not Interested. Your saved books are always available in your account, and they're automatically excluded from future recommendations so you won't see repeats.
Will I get the same books recommended again?
Saved books are automatically excluded from future recommendations. You'll always get new picks. If you search with identical preferences to a recent search, we may return a cached result at no credit cost.
How do credits work?
Each search returns 5 recommendations. Fast mode costs 1 credit, while High Quality mode costs 2 credits. If your preferences match a recent search, we may return a cached result for free. New users get 10 free credits on sign-up. When you need more, purchase a credit pack. No subscription, no expiration.
What's the difference between Fast and High Quality mode?
Fast mode (1 credit) delivers quick results using a lightweight AI model, great for everyday recommendations. High Quality mode (2 credits) uses a more powerful AI model that follows your preferences more precisely and tends to recommend more accurate, lesser-known titles. Both modes return 5 personalized recommendations.
Can I buy recommended books through Bookmancer?
Each recommendation includes an Amazon link for easy purchasing. We earn a small commission through Amazon's affiliate program, which helps keep the service running. You're always free to buy from your local bookshop, library, or any retailer you prefer.
Do I need an account to use Bookmancer?
Yes, a free account is required. You can sign in with Google, Microsoft, or a magic link sent to your email. No password needed. Your account is created automatically on first sign-in, and you can delete it at any time from your account settings.
What languages does Bookmancer support?
The app is available in English, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. Click the globe icon in the navigation bar to switch languages. Recommendations work in all supported languages.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet: Bookmancer is a web app designed to work smoothly on any device. Whether you're on your phone, tablet, or computer, the experience is the same.
